I had a different plan for today, but it was a silly day at work today. In my day job, I am an accountant, exciting I know.
I had to take a wonderfully exciting online seminar on the new reporting requirements for 1099's. Riveting! I know you want me to go into greater detail...... Just kidding.
We work in cubicles of course and I needed to be left alone for an hour or so. So being silly, I took a piece of tape and put it across my cubicle door. It read "Online Seminar...Shhh be quiet...Don't bother me...Go Away" So this was 15 minutes prior to the start of the seminar and this got the troops in an silly mood.
Dorian kept asking me for a throat lozenge and telling me, head right over the sign, that he wasn't going to bother me. Donna began doing a dance outside of my cubicle and Emily did this:
My co-workers are silly. They do make it fun to go to work. They were like my children. You know when you need to do something they want your attention. But no really they were silly.
It got me to thinking that I have tried to bring my creativity to work and no, I don't mean as a creative accountant. I mean, I try to make my area bright and cheery and have a little whimsy to brighten the day. I spend so much of my time here it needs to be pretty. So I thought I would take pictures (with my phone so pardon the quality) of my work area.
Here is my bulletin board that I painted. It was a bland old wood frame that I graffiti ala Alisa Burke.
Every cubicle needs Papa and Smurfette.
Just some artwork to brighten up the spot. (And to remind me to make the most of my day here.)
My pick me up section.
They say:
You are writing the story of your only life each and every single minute of the day.
You are NOT to late. You didn't miss your chance.
You don't have to have it all figured out right now.
This is the second week for AEDM. Check out everyone's fun post here.

p.s. I really enjoyed looking at your vision board!
I like your cubby space, kinda reminds my space where I use to work I had buttons pins and fun little figurines like yours (I use to have smurfs just like those).
ReplyDeleteI adore your space :) The cork board and notes are awesome.
ReplyDeleteRock on, Nelly!
I love your office. Your postive post its are great. Love the quotes that surround you! xxoo
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration....I love the colorful cork board....!! have a great day..!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant...absolutely bring your creativity to work and your workmates sound like a lot of fun to be around. I used to have a huge board in my office with photos, cards, quotes and all sorts of bits and pieces. People would come along just to see it as our office was so boring and bland. You will soon get everyone to be creative at work too and imagine what will happen then! Have a fab week x
ReplyDeleteway to jazz up your cube! looks great!
ReplyDeleteForget about the smurfs I love the little finger monster sitting there with them. I have two from years and years ago and I love them. Recently my 2 year old daughter got to pick out a little toy from a treasure chest and I laughed that she chose a little monster like that because she's never seen mine and if I was digging through there I would have picked the same thing!
ReplyDeleteHey Nelly, I love your workspace and your co-workers sound like a hoot! Your lucky to have silliness around the work place!! I also love your vision board! I've never created a vision board but have always wanted to. Yours turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteAlso thanks for visiting my blog :)
Happy fall, xo ajae
