For the last oh, I don't know 2 months my oldest son Jake has been participating in his middle school play, Oliver. His practices were three nights a week from 6-9. This last week they had been from 5:30 to 9 and one marathon session on Sunday 1-9:30.
Tonight was their dress rehearsal, and parents were invited to come and take pictures. There is NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY during the main performance. (I type shouted at you because we parents were type shouted at, and I want you to get the full effect.)
Anywho....The poor boy was petrified! I asked him afterword if he was scared and in his 12 year old way, blew me off and said "no, why would you say that." Oh I don't know, the fact that he pretty much tried to hide behind someone unless he was forced to be out in front. The only smile was given at the end of the play when they were practicing their exit. Pure look of terror for most of the show.
Pardon the quality of the pictures as I couldn't figure out what setting to use in the dark. I tried night time setting, with flash and without....no good. Tried auto, with flash and without....no good. Jake would be up in the front and my camera wouldn't take the picture...uuuggghhh! It was right before intermission that I found out the action setting was the best one. Action..who knew?
Without further ado, I give you Orphan/Pickpocket # 11.......
Jake is the orphan with the guppy mouth 3 1/2 heads from the right.
Far right with the black tie.
Center right, no hiding here.
Center- Trying to hide.
Second from the Left- Look at the smirk.
He is the back left wheel. Love this shot of him between two parasols.
This is the Umm-Pa-Pa scene. It was the best, the kids really loved it.
Mike and I are so proud of Jake. Jake is the ultimate joiner. He will sign up for ANYTHING if you say "Hey Jake, do you want to play (football, baseball, swimming, tennis, bowling, basketball, wrestling, soccer, art class)? " He will say yes. But his was the first thing that he signed up for on his own without any coaxing from Mom or Dad. I hope he sticks with it.
